Walker Guitars Stand Out
Kim Walker has been making guitars since 1974. The quality of his guitars are the result of meticulous attention to detail and a lengthy history in the industry. He learned the ropes of the industry by working as a banjo and dulcimer maker in 1973. Then, in 1979 he began working under George Gruhn, a noteworthy collector and dealer.
Kim was running the six-man shop owned by Gruhn in 1984, and in 1986 he started building prototypes of new models for the Guild Guitar Company. He was heading the R&D department for Guild in 1987 and in 1988 he was the assistant plant manager supervising production of 50 guitars per day.
In 1994 Kim started his own company. The influence of C.F. Martin and Gibson is apparent in the style of many of Kim’s handmade guitars. A few of our available models include the ’03 Walker 000-12 Fret that features Cocobolo back and sides, German spruce soundboard, an armrest built and installed by Kim, Brazilian rosewood bindings, a thin ebony/maple circle rosette, slotted headstock, and Waverly tuners with Ivroid buttons.
