Roy McAlister In 1973 Roy McAlister received his first guitar as a Christmas gift. A few years later he decided to do "a little customizing" and has been hooked ever since. While studying the craft of fine furniture design and construction, Roy continued to build and customize guitars for himself and his friends on the side. After meeting Richard Hoover, owner of the Santa Cruz Guitar Co., Roy went to work for the guitar maker in 1992. Roy built guitars for SCGC for four years before leaving to start McAlister guitars. With 20 years of experience as a fine furniture builder and the knowledge gained during his years at SCGC, Roy has supplied custom guitars for such artists as Chuck Brodsky, Jackson Browne, Marc Cohn, David Crosby, Graham Nash and Rick Ruskin. The Luthier's Collection will receive 4 guitars each year from Roy McAlister Guitars. You pay the same price at the Luthier's Collection as you would dealing directly with Roy.
